Yes at Munnar and Thekkady, and it is the single upgrade we recommend on this itinerary. Budget roughly ₹6,000–₹9,000 extra per night for the pair of you depending on the property and the month. Ask us before you book the departure — pool villas are usually four to six keys in a resort and go first.

Is the Ayurvedic massage done together in one room?

Only where the resort holds a licensed couple’s suite — Spice Village and Fragrant Nature both do. Traditional Kerala practice is same-gender therapists in separate rooms, and a few classical centres will not do a shared room at all. Tell us at booking and we will confirm the property before we block it.

You are met at Cochin airport with a flower welcome and driven up the Idukki ghat, stopping at Cheeyappara falls and a cardamom plantation. Check-in is at an estate property above Chithirapuram with the Kannan Devan slopes on three sides. The evening is free — most of these estates put out a bonfire and a pot of estate tea at dusk.

A private-car day across Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala Lake and the Top Station ridge, with the KDHP Tea Museum and its tasting room in the afternoon. At six you are booked for a sixty-minute couple’s Ayurvedic massage — the classic abhyanga with warm sesame oil, done by two therapists to a side. Dinner is laid out for two on the tea lawn, candles and a cake, with the resort kitchen cooking to order.

Three hours through Poopara and Vandiperiyar to Thekkady, on the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border. The afternoon is the Periyar Lake boat cruise, followed by a walk through a working cardamom, clove and vanilla plantation. Evening is the Kalaripayattu pit at the Kadathanadan Kalari Centre — the flaming-hoop sequence is the last act and worth staying for.

You board a premium one-bedroom kettuvallam at Punnamada at noon — air-conditioned bedroom, private upper sundeck, a cook and two crew for the two of you. The boat threads the Vembanad canals past Kuttanad’s below-sea-level paddy and moors near Kainakary for the night. Lunch and dinner are Kerala home cooking made on board; ask for karimeen pollichathu and toddy-shop style prawns.

Disembark after breakfast and drive an hour and a half to Kochi. The afternoon is Fort Kochi on foot — the Chinese fishing nets, St Francis Church, the Dutch Palace murals at Mattancherry and the antique lanes of Jew Town. Sunset drinks on the Bolgatty or Vypin waterfront, then a free evening in the Princess Street cafés.
