The Visitor visa (subclass 600) is applied for entirely online through ImmiAccount — there is no sticker in the passport and no embassy visit for most applicants, though biometrics at a VFS centre can be requested. Processing is genuinely variable: many applications clear in two to three weeks, some take six or more in the Indian holiday rush, so apply at least six weeks before travel.
